Those who lovingly perform the Jewish ritual of shmirah aren’t the only folks who meet our needs as our lives come to an end. Those who perform taharah (ritual body wash), rabbis, cantors, hospice workers, those who visit the sick, caregivers, funeral directors, death doulas, and so many others are all a part of the end-of-life care community. If you're in one of those groups but you don’t (yet!) wish to perform shmirah, you can still stay in touch. Register here to receive (via email) invitations to the annual Chevrah Kadisha banquet, the Austin Shmirah Annual Report, occasional holiday greetings, and occasional resource lists from our leadership. You will not be notified when any congregation is arranging a shmirah.
