Austin Area Chevrei Kadisha

Shmirah is only one component of the sacred work of the Chevrah Kadisha (Jewish Burial Society – plural, Chevrei Kadisha). A Chevrah Kadisha may also provide taharah (ritual body wash), cemetery administration and maintenance, sale of cemetery plots, bikkur cholim (visiting the sick), nichum aveilim (comforting mourners), and other forms of Jewish end-of-life care.

Below is a directory of Chevrei Kadisha in the Austin area. You may contact them to explore options to volunteer or to make use of their services. To add your own Chevrah Kadisha to the directory, contact the Facilitator at gailtosto (at) gmail (dot) com.
